GymScreen Media

NetServices provide GymScreen Media with a cost-effective Content Delivery Network

The Challenge

GymScreen Media provides unique audiovisual communications systems to the leisure industry. Their products are based around a music video TV channel that can be used to educate and entertain gym members. The channel is also a revenue generator as third party advertising is an option.

Traditionally content had been kept up-to-date by providing regular update disks to each facility. However this approach was outdated and logistically difficult. Streaming of content into each facility was an option but would have been demanding on bandwidth and therefore costly. When GymScreen Media approached NetServices they were using a public internet VPN to deliver content which was insecure and unreliable.

The Solution

NetServices recommended a Private DSL Network for GymScreen Media. This network enables content to be delivered from the customer server, based at NetServices hosting centre, to a media box held at each customer site. Content is stored on the media boxes and played on a loop until it is updated via the DSL network. Music and content can be edited as required by GymScreen Media and scheduled according to the time of day.

As GymScreen Media is constantly adding new customers they needed to be able to add to their network and wanted an easy way in which to order each new circuit. NetServices Client Control Panel (CCP) provided the answer. The CCP was designed for NetServices reseller community but due to the volume of circuits was also ideal for GymScreen Media - the WAN now extends to 160 sites.

The Benefits

As a private network based on the NetServices core infrastructure, the solution terminates in the NetServices hosting centre and uses the MPLS core network, this immediately provides GymScreen Media with the security and reliability absent from their previous solution. Using DSL as the access technology provides GymScreen Media with a highly cost-effective means of delivery of content.

The 'self-service' nature of the solution using the CCP is highly effective for GymScreen Media it enables them to effortlessly scale the solution and add new sites into the network as their customer base expands.

  • Adding new sites on a regular basis implied a constantly changing network

SOLUTION

  • DSL based private network connecting all sites provided a cost-effective and secure network over which content could be updated

RESULTS

  • Self-service provisioning therefore new sites can be added with minimal hassle
  • Broadband (DSL) based network ensures short lead time as well as a cost-effective networking solution

System integration is the key driver for system integrators. Systems integrators that have a meshed network capability provide a consultative skill and managed service. NetServices have BT Martlesham labs confirming that their QoS IPStream (QoS over IPStream) works as sold. As part of their DSL products NetServices also provide QoS ADSL, QoS DSL (QoS over DSL), QoS DataStream (QoS over DataStream) that are all QoS over broadband solutions that deliver MPLS broadband services. These in turn build into Managed MPLS VPN, enabling a Converged MPLS VPN meshed network. NetServices is an IPCarrier (SIP Carrier) and therefore delivers managed SIP trunks as part of a SIP trunk network that supports managed hosted IPT. As a market leading Systems Integrator NetServices has recently integrated and launched their managed video network solution that includes Video over mobile using mobile broadband technology allowing complete Converged video networks. Converged broadband installations for video services use QoS DSL and QoS ADSL technology that are future proofed as 21CN users will work in a meshed solution in a managed video network. Managed Mobile Networks that deliver mobile leased lines can now from part of managed integrated mobile WAN solutions. Managed mobile data services are available in providing synchronous mobility data services and are instantly available for mobile disaster recovery (DR). In the simplest form managed mobile networks that deliver mobile leased lines are a replacement to a fixed line installation if the installations are temporary, mobile or instantly needed.
